ZEMA Implementation

Issue

The client is a marketer & trader managing pricing data across multiple databases, ETRM systems, and spreadsheets.

Pricing data was scattered across too many sources to support:

  • Price data was being overwritten across systems, corrupting the daily P&L.
  • There were too many independent sources of pricing to maintain reliably.
  • The client needed one trustworthy source of price data.

Solution

MidDel guided selection, then consolidated pricing data onto one platform with minimal business disruption:

  • Created the RFP and guided the client to select ZEMA.
  • Mapped every price curve between ZEMA and the ETRM, spreadsheets, and reporting databases.
  • Built bi-directional feeds between ZEMA and legacy systems and trader spreadsheets.

Result

More than 2,000 price curves and millions of rows of history consolidated into one source - spanning day-ahead and real-time power, all gas sources, and forward curves.

A single authoritative feed ended the cross-system overwrites that had been distorting daily P&L.

“Tremendous job and thanks for this extraordinary effort! Congratulations.”

Key Takeaways

  • Multiple sources of price data without clarity on priority mean multiple chances to corrupt P&L. Centralizing more than 2,000 curves and millions of historical rows in a single managed feed ended the cross-system overwrites that were distorting daily P&L.
  • Treat market data as infrastructure, not a spreadsheet input. A single authoritative curve source with bi-directional feeds to the ETRM and reporting systems is a durable fix any multi-system trading shop can adopt.

Ready to do the same?

If price data lives in a dozen places without clear priority your daily P&L may pay for it, MidDel can consolidate your curves into one authoritative feed or design clarity and controls to ensure completeness and accuracy. Let's talk.
